Vision Quest in Duitsland

Eindelijk: de datum en lokatie zijn bekend: op 3 uur rijden van Utrecht zal van 25-29  augustus de Vision Quest van de Mexicaanse familie Raices de La Tierra plaatsvinden.

Nabij Üxheim wordt het kamp opgebouwd bij het Beuerhof in de Duitse Vulkaaneifel. Dit ligt in  de Hohe Eifel (of Hocheifel), waarvan de Hohe Acht (747 m) het hoogste punt is, en tevens het hoogste punt van het hele Eifelgebied. Als synoniem voor op Vision Quest gaan zegt men ook wel ; de berg op. Die berg die is er dus! In het Tertiair was er in de Eifel sterke vulkanische activiteit. De kraters die ontstaan zijn door explosies van vulkanische gassen hebben zich gevuld met grondwater en worden Maare genoemd. De laatste uitbarstingen vonden 10.000 jaar geleden plaats.

Laten we samen komen met ons continent en ons verenigen in onze zoektocht en intenties. De initiatiefnemers – de Mexicaanse spirituele beweging Raices de la Tierra – zien niet de grenzen die wij wel kennen, zij voelen slechts één continent- dat willen zij samenbrengen in het hart van Europa. (en kijk ook even bij de mooie elders die daar komen)

We are the ones from yesterday, we are the ones from today and we will be the ones from tomorrow….

The vision quest ceremony is the opportunity we have to be alone with ourselves, reconnect with Mother Earth and the Great Spirit!

Since the ancient times principally in northern american traditions, this quest was used to seek for a purpose in life, to find out who we are and where we go, to reconnect with our spirit and the creator… to understand we are one with the universe…

In this ceremony you will have the chance to go up on a mountain and be alone for 4 days with no food and no water, you will have the chance to feed yourself with the flight of the birds, with the singing of the wind, the light of a new dawn and the colors of the sunset…..
You will stay inside a circle, an altar made out of your prayers made of tobacco ties…. every single of these tobacco ties is a prayer to the Great Spirit, in which you will introduce yourself to the spiritual world, you will introduce your parents, your grand parents and your ancestors…. they will be with you during the 4 days.
You have to bring with you a blanket with an 8 pointed star attached to the center of the blanket…. This will be the connection betwin our prayers in the sweatlodge and your quest on the mountain….

Going up to the mountain and making your quest is your own choice, not one from the others, respect yourself, respect your soul and your spirit, respect your path and your breathing, respect all what has not been created by mankind…
Go up with hope, hope that something inside of you will change in a good way…
Our prayers and our fast offering will be certainly heard by the Great spirit

Join the vision quest with no ideas, better leave them at home. Go without any musical instrument, so you will have the chance to listen at the singing of the earth. When you are up on the mountain forget about who you are in the city, forget about who you are in the world and be yourself. You don’t have to proof anything to anyone… You will be alone with your heart, your spirit and your prayers in front of the creator ….
We are living a beautiful life within a beautiful ceremony that will transcend through our entire lifes

Prepare yourself in the sweatlodge, pray, sing, sweat out your fears… Say your name out loud, introduce yourself to the spirits… Burn out your ego in the holy fire… Be sincere…. Great Spirit listens to all of us… and we can never lie to him….

Search for someone you trust to be your supporter, your supporter will drink water for you, will eat for you, and will pray and sweat in the sweatldoge every morning and every evening for giving you the strenght to go on with your prayer. We will take care of you while you are learning again the respect for life and that we all belong to this earth and we all are part of the universe and the great mystery…

…about the camp
This is a familiar ceremony, so everyone is welcome! Children, adults and elders are welcome to join us in the camp. There will be activities, and games for the children, workshops and talks for everyone, and everyone is always welcome to share activities with the people in the camp!
There will also be a shopping area, where you can find art handcrafts from Mexico, North and South America!

Live the experience of cooking together as a community, preparing the holy food for the whole camp and so giving strength to the vision questers!

This whole movement is based on trust, believe and the knowing that everything is in balance right here and right now.

The medicine, the ceremonies and the sweatlodges does not have any costs…. However we ask for a cooperation because performing this ceremony entails costs, such as: rent of the place, toilets, food for the whole camp, wood for feeding the holy fire that will keep us for the 4 days, flights of the people that come all the way from Mexico to share this medicine and prayers!

The cooperation will be: vision questers €100,00/person, supporters €120,00/person
(free entrance for children below 10 years old )

We also accept donations coming from your heart (because KLM unfortunately does not pay for our flights 😉 )

Itinerary :
Monday 25 : we arrive to the camp and introduce each other in a circle, we make sure ever y one has ready their prayers (tobacco ties) and the blanket with the 8 pointed star….( if some one still doesn’t have everything ready or doesn’t know how to make the tobacco ties or the star we will help each other to make sure we will be ready for starting the visionquest next morning )

Tuesday 26 : We start our ceremony at the sunrise, we go inside the sweatldoge (vision questers come to the sweatlodge place already with their tabacco ties and your blanket with the attached star) we go into the sweatlodge to start with the compromise of being one (quester/supporter) during the 4 days of ceremony.
After the sweatlodge we go to bring the questers up on the mountains, each quester comes along with her/his supporter.
We come back to the camp where the holy food will be waiting for us already to start our prayer and support for the vision questers.

Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27, Thursday 28, Friday 29 :
We go into the sweatlodge at the sunrise and the sunset to pray for our brothers and sisters up on the mountains…To send them strenght for the day, nice heat for the cold night, and blessings for a good life….
We will enjoy the opportunity of living in community, cooking together and taking care of each other…..

Friday 29: After the morning sweatlodge we will prepare the food for the return of the vision questers… When the food and the swealodge are ready we leave the camp to get our brothers and sisters back… Remember to still not talk much to them and don’t touch them… We have to respect them and give them their space till they finish their ceremony…… Then we go all together once again to the sweatlodge to accomplish our commitment of 4 days to finish the ceremony…. So we can share the food, the smiles, with the vision questers… Hug each other as the one family from the whole mother earth that we are….

After we are finished with the ceremony we start disassembling the whole camp…. As we know that some of you comes from faraway and have to take trains or flights we also offer you the option to stay Friday night at the camp as well to make it easier for you in order to prepare everything to get back home…. (but in this case you would have to pay €15.- directly to the Beuerhof for staying one night longer).

The nearest Airport to the Beuerhof is located in Köln and the nearest train station is Jünkerath / Eifel, it is around one hour away from Köln (Cologne) just make sure you can get the this train station and we can pick you up from there! (please just let us know in advance at what time you would arrive)
